A brilliant start at regular blogging about Swing Dancing and the stories of our tumultuous and winsome subculture. Alain and Carl get major props, not just for the incredible idea, but also because Blogs about Swing Dancing are a thing that Lindy Hoppers like.

Blogs? You might ask. Well, Lindy Hoppers tend to be more computer savvy than most folks, favoring trendy cyber-related things like Macs to match their iPhones, iPods, and iSelves. Therefore, they spend a lot of time on iFacebook, following people’s links after trying to figure out who a 147th mutual friend is. They end up at Lindy Hopper blogs, which are linked to other blogs about Swing Dancing, because we are *all* writing worthwhile critiques and well-informed articles about the community which we hold so dear.

Why do Lindy Hoppers like blogs about Swing Dancing so much?

Event planning: Blogs are a way to air your opinion about all the cool events you’re going to or wish you’d been. Like, HOLY SHIT! OMG I can’t wait until Showdown. It’s gonna be da bomb.

The Next Best Thing: If we aren’t dancing, we wish we were dancing. And, if the connection is too slow to watch YouTube or to tag dancing pictures on Facebook, the next best thing is catching up with the Swing blogs that are in our feeder, like Lindybloggers.

Stalking: It helps us keep tabs on our friends, not-so-friends and favorite rock stars without seeming creepy. Friends sites are pretty good for professional stalking, but what’s better than a peek inside the eponymous’ poor grammar? You know you want to know what your Ex-Dancing Girlfriend is doing with her New Dancing Boyfriend (even if he isn’t as good a dancer as you are).

Venting: For when posting poorly-written uniformed ad hominem attacks on forums just isn’t enough…or to unmoderatedly gush to all your world-strewn cyberfriends over a perfectly incredible experience.

Plugging: Because blogs about Swing Dancing are awesome.

In fact, you probably got here because of a link on someone’s blog (or because you searched for pictures of “shower,” “urkel,” or “white shoes”…)

So, let’s raise a glass to all of those who have Lindy Blogs, and to all of us who follow them.
Cheers!
–DS
